I ordered a compact electric pulley dumbwaiter for my two-storey home in Mysore, mainly to move food from the kitchen to the dining area on the upper floor. The unit itself works fine, but what stood out during the whole process was how the team handled communication before and during installation.
Right from the first call, they asked about my wall thickness and whether the shaft would be masonry or drywall. That mattered because the mounting brackets needed different anchors depending on the surface. They also confirmed the electrical point distance — my kitchen had a socket about three metres from the proposed shaft, which meant a longer power cable than the standard kit included. They flagged this before dispatch, so there were no surprises on installation day.
The setup took about four hours. Two technicians arrived with the unit, a torque wrench, and a laser level. They checked the vertical alignment twice before fixing the guide rails, which I appreciated because a misaligned rail causes uneven wear on the pulley belt. They also tested the safety lock mechanism with a full load — a stack of steel plates — before declaring the job done.
One thing to note: the noise level is noticeable when the lift is carrying more than 15 kg. It is not loud enough to disturb conversation in the next room, but you will hear the motor hum and the belt tension change. If your shaft is right next to a bedroom, consider a hydraulic model instead, though that will cost more and needs more space for the power unit.
Spare parts availability was another point they clarified upfront. The pulley belt and the limit switches are standard components available locally, so I do not have to worry about importing anything if something wears out. The technician also left a small card with the torque settings for the brake, which is useful if I ever need to adjust it after a few months of use.
Overall, the experience was straightforward because the team communicated the constraints clearly and did not oversell the product. If you are planning a similar installation, measure your shaft width and check your electrical point location before you call — it will save you a follow-up visit.
